Based in the English Lake District, Sagem Crafts are Paul Metsers and Pauline Brocklehurst. We originally set up to make the large traditional board game, extremely popular in the Netherlands called "sjoelen" or "sjoelbak" and introduce it into Britain under the trade name "Shool". In Germany it is sometimes known as jakkolo. Also called shuffleboard. As sales flourished the range was expanded to include two other traditional games. A quality chess board with a brass-handled full length drawer for the pieces and a finely crafted bagatelle set incorporating the best features from various old traditional boards people kindly loaned to us. More recently (due to many requests) we have added a Table Skittles set (a traditional English pub game also known as Bar Skittles or Devil Among The Tailors). Made principally from British timbers the hand-made games are durable and attractively finished making them as enjoyable to look at as they are to play. Each piece is individually numbered and can proudly be handed down as a family heirloom. Emphasis is on quality rather than quantity and all our games are fully guaranteed against defective workmanship, though it has to be said we have never yet had one returned. In fact the only complaint we have ever had is from a customer who loaned their bagatelle to a relative and could not prise it away from them, thus prompting him to buy another for himself. Our games are usually made to order and take about 3 weeks from ordering to delivery. If games are in stock delivery can be within 1 - 2 days. Games may be collected in person by customers if this is preferable. |
